Thrive: A Life Abundant is a new sermon series beginning on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Worship with us Sunday mornings at 10:30 am to hear all the details about how you can have an abundant life and thrive!
In his book, Called, Mark Labberton, president of Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA writes:
People ask many questions about how their lives relate to the world. Why are we here?
What are our lives in this world about? Is there a reason we are alive, and if so, how do we know what that is? These questions can be brought on by beauty and joy but also by the daunting facts of our own lives or of the world around us. We look around in doubt, in pain, in suffering. These are questions asked throughout history by those inside and outside the church.
Let’s study Scripture together to learn about God’s call for all of us to loving connection with God and God’s world, a call to live and receive the love of God for us and for the world. A Biblical call meant to pack our lives with more love, more joy, more creativity, more wonder, and more engagement.
We will look at God’s call for all of us which turns on our response to Jesus’ two words: “Follow me.”
- January 21 – Who Are We? (Genesis 12:1-3 and Ephesians 3:16-19)
- January 28 – Why Are We Here? (Matthew 22:36-40 and Matthew 5:13-16)
God created us as partners to reflect God’s image and care for creation. We are meant to be tangible evidence of God’s intent for the world. Us together. The church. This is the purpose of human life, this is our calling as followers of Jesus. See you in church!
“Following Jesus is both the greatest opportunity and highest challenge ever afforded the human race” (John Ortberg, senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church).
